Julia Wherrell

I am warm, empathetic and a good listener. As a funeral celebrant, my role is to work alongside you to create a funeral ceremony reflecting the life, values and beliefs of the person who has died.

Each of my ceremonies is unique and can include religious content depending on your wishes.

Working with you I create a bespoke ceremony that can include music and poetry and contributions from family and friends. We will discuss ideas and talk about your loved one so that I can write an accurate tribute to their life. You will receive a draft of the ceremony for fine-tuning to make it personal and perfect for you.

I hold a Level 3 Diploma in Funeral Celebrancy, the highest accredited national qualification in the UK. I am also a member of the Institute of Civil Funerals promoting the highest standards of funeral celebrancy.

have worked as a Day Care Host for The Filo Project, an award-winning Community Interest Company providing high-quality day care for small groups of older people. The service supports individuals who are socially isolated, many experiencing symptoms associated with moderate dementia. I am a 'Dementia Friend' and endeavour to help raise awareness and understanding of the disease.

After graduating, I worked in public and business relations and have also written articles for a range of magazines.

I have lived and worked in Devon for almost 30 years and greatly appreciate the beauty of Dartmoor.
